Your Rancher Connection

Alpine Lamb Co. is your connection to the ranch.

We exist to bring families closer to the people who raise their food and to make it simple to source high-quality meat directly from Colorado ranchers. In a world where most meat passes through layers of distributors and grocery chains, we believe there is value in shortening that distance — connecting customers to ranchers, and ranchers to the families who appreciate what they produce.

At the center of that connection is lamb. We believe lamb is one of the finest proteins nature provides — rich in flavor, deeply nourishing, and enjoyed across cultures for centuries. Lamb raised in Colorado is widely regarded among chefs and ranchers as some of the best in the world, thanks to the region’s clean environment, quality feed, and long tradition of careful sheep husbandry.

Our lamb comes from a cross of Dorper rams with Polypay and Romanov ewes, a combination known among shepherds for producing healthy animals and excellent meat quality. Dorper sheep are widely respected for their tender meat and naturally mild taste, while Polypay and Romanov genetics contribute strong growth and well-developed muscle. The result is lamb that is clean in flavor, well-marbled, and consistently tender.

Many people who believe they do not enjoy lamb are often remembering a stronger or more “gamey” flavor associated with older animals or certain breeds. Lamb from this cross tends to be milder and more approachable, with a rich but balanced flavor that cooks beautifully whether roasted, grilled, or slow braised. In fact, many customers who once thought they didn’t like lamb find that they enjoy it once they experience properly raised lamb with a clean, natural flavor.

Beyond its taste, lamb offers an exceptional balance of protein, healthy fats, iron, zinc, and essential nutrients that support strength, energy, and overall health. It has long been valued not only for its flavor, but for the way it satisfies and sustains.

Each season we offer a limited number of lamb shares, allowing families to reserve a portion of the harvest directly from the ranch. It is a simple and time-tested way of sourcing meat — honest food, thoughtfully prepared, and shared among those who appreciate quality.

To better serve our customers, we also partner with trusted local Colorado ranchers to provide beef and pork options. This allows families to source a variety of high-quality meats in one place while continuing to support the hardworking ranching community that produces them.

Livestock Shares and How To Buy Ranch Direct

What Is a Lamb Share?

Before industrial food systems, bioengineered food stuff  and government paperwork, buying meat directly from the rancher was called dinner.

A lamb share is a traditional farm-direct purchasing model that allows families to buy a portion of a lamb directly from the rancher who raised it.
